Students learn the medicine. They practice the skills. Then they are expected to put those things together — assessing patients, making decisions, working with a team, communicating, moving patients, and adapting when a situation does not go exactly as planned. That training happens in the classroom, in the lab, during clinical experience, and in the field. Pelham Beechwood gives us something few EMS programs have: 67 private acres where training can move outside the classroom. The property includes a 13-acre lake, wooded terrain, cabins, classrooms, and areas designed for field and scenario training. The goal is straightforward: prepare students to function when the instructor is no longer standing beside them. --- ### **Featured Programs** #### **17-Day Accelerated EMT Program** 17-Day Accelerated EMT Program A focused EMT program combining classroom instruction, skills lab, clinical experience, and field training. Students learn the fundamentals of emergency care, then put those skills to work through patient-care scenarios, team exercises, patient movement, and problem solving. 17 days. EMT education from start to finish. [Explore the EMT Program](https://pelhamtraining.com/17-day-emt-program/) --- #### ****Accelerated Paramedic Program**** An intensive Paramedic program combining classroom instruction, laboratory training, clinical experience, and scenario-based field training. Students move beyond learning individual skills and begin putting the entire patient encounter together — assessment, treatment decisions, communication, teamwork, transport, and continued patient management. ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS are included as part of the program. Approximately four months. 1,250 hours of Paramedic education and training. Courses may include TECC/TEMS, prolonged field care, 68W sustainment, tactical medical training, and custom scenario-based programs. [Discuss Custom Training](https://pelhamtraining.com/custom-course/) --- ## **Pelham Beechwood** 67 acres built for training beyond the classroom. Just minutes from the schoolhouse, Beechwood gives Pelham students room to move, solve problems, and work through scenarios in a very different environment. The property includes a 13-acre lake, wooded terrain, open ground, cabins, classrooms, and training areas used throughout Pelham programs. - ![](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_7873-2-768x1024.jpg) - ![](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_7874-2-768x1024.jpg) - ![](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/23344-2-1024x768.jpg) - ![](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/23367-2-1024x635.jpg) - ![](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_4118-768x1024.jpg) - ![](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/18144-2-768x1024.jpeg) [Explore Pelham Beechwood](https://pelhamtraining.com/pelham-beechwood/) --- #### **About Us** Pelham Training has provided EMS education since 2005, with roots in emergency medical training reaching back to the early 1990s. Located in Bloomfield, Indiana, Pelham provides EMT and Paramedic education to students from across the country. Our CAAHEP-accredited Paramedic program, accelerated EMT program, clinical education, and field training are built around one idea: Students eventually have to make decisions without an instructor standing beside them. Our job is to prepare them for that. The course provides the 30 hours of remedial education required before a fourth NREMT examination attempt and is built specifically around preparing students to approach the examination differently the next time. This is not primarily a skills or field-scenario course. The emphasis is on identifying knowledge gaps, strengthening weak areas, improving clinical reasoning, working through examination questions, and understanding why an answer is right — or why it is wrong. ## Course at a Glance **Duration:** Five days **Education:** 30 hours of Paramedic remedial education **Location:** Pelham Training, Bloomfield, Indiana **Designed For:** Paramedic graduates preparing for a 4th or subsequent NREMT examination attempt **Format:** Classroom review, case-based learning, practice questions, ECG interpretation, pharmacology, calculations, clinical reasoning, and examination strategy **Housing:** Optional Pelham student housing may be available **Tuition:** $500 ## Who This Course Is For This course is intended for Paramedic graduates who have already completed an accredited Paramedic education program but have been unsuccessful on the NREMT Paramedic Certification Examination. Pelham accepts graduates of other Paramedic programs for remediation beginning after three unsuccessful NREMT examination attempts. This gives the student’s original Paramedic program the opportunity to provide remediation first. Students preparing for an earlier examination attempt who are looking for general test preparation should contact their training institution to discuss available options. ## Meeting the NREMT Remedial Education Requirement NREMT requires additional education before a Paramedic candidate may make a fourth certification examination attempt. Pelham’s course provides 30 hours of qualifying Paramedic remedial education designed to meet that requirement. Students completing the course receive documentation of the education completed for submission as required. ## The Purpose of Remediation Failing the examination does not always mean a student lacks knowledge. Sometimes the problem is cardiology. Sometimes it is pharmacology, airway management, or medical emergencies. Sometimes the student knows the material but struggles to interpret the question. Some students second-guess correct answers. Others memorize isolated facts but have difficulty applying them to a patient presentation. Effective remediation begins by figuring out why the student is missing questions. Pelham instructors use review, discussion, patient cases, practice questions, and targeted instruction to identify those problems and work on them directly. We are not interested only in which answer you chose. We want to know why you chose it. ## Five-Day Course Outline **Day 1 — Assessment, Airway & Exam Reasoning** The course begins by establishing where the student is having difficulty. Topics may include: • Baseline knowledge assessment • NREMT examination structure and question style • Patient assessment • Clinical decision-making • Airway management • Oxygenation and ventilation/ABG • Respiratory emergencies • Question analysis and reasoning Students begin working through practice questions from the first day. **Day 2 — Cardiology & Resuscitation** Cardiology is a major focus for many students preparing for the Paramedic examination. Topics may include: • Rhythm interpretation • 12-lead ECG interpretation • Acute coronary syndromes • Bradycardia and tachycardia • Cardiac pharmacology • Cardiac arrest • Post-resuscitation care • Cardiology practice questions and patient cases The emphasis is not simply on identifying a rhythm. Students must decide what the rhythm means for the patient and what should happen next. **Day 3 — Medical Emergencies & Pharmacology** Students work through common and complex medical presentations. Topics may include: • Neurologic emergencies • Endocrine emergencies • Toxicology • Respiratory emergencies • Infectious disease • Shock • Altered mental status • Pharmacology • Medication calculations • Medication selection and contraindications • Medical patient cases and practice questions **Day 4 — Trauma, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Special Populations** This day concentrates on areas that often require students to change how they assess and treat the patient. Topics may include: • Trauma assessment • Hemorrhage and shock • Head and chest injuries • Burns • Pediatric assessment • Pediatric emergencies • Obstetric emergencies • Delivery and neonatal care • Geriatric patients • Special healthcare needs • Mixed practice questions **Day 5 — Integration & Exam Preparation** The final day brings the material together. Students work through mixed patient presentations and larger sets of examination-style questions. The emphasis shifts toward: • Recognizing what the question is actually asking • Identifying important information in the question stem • Eliminating incorrect choices • Prioritizing assessment and treatment • Avoiding common reasoning errors •Reviewing missed questions •Identifying remaining weak areas •Developing an individual study plan for the next examination attempt The goal is for students to leave knowing not only what they need to study, but how they need to approach the examination differently. ## How You’ll Train Most of this course is classroom-based and focused directly on examination preparation. Students should expect: • Instructor-led review • Patient cases • Practice questions • ECG interpretation • Medication and dosage problems • Group discussion • Individual questioning • Clinical reasoning exercises • Review of incorrect answers • Test-taking strategy Hands-on skills may be reviewed when they help clarify a clinical concept, but extensive field scenarios are not the focus of this course. The priority is preparation for the NREMT Paramedic Certification Examination. ## What We Expect from Students Students should arrive prepared to participate. Remediation works best when students are willing to identify areas of weakness, ask questions, accept feedback, and change study or test-taking habits that have not been working. Students should bring any available information from previous NREMT attempts that may help identify areas requiring additional review. ## Tuition $500 Tuition includes: - Five days of focused Paramedic remediation - 30 hours of qualifying remedial education - Instructor-led review - Practice questions and patient cases - ECG and pharmacology review - Examination strategy - Documentation of completed remedial education ## Student Housing Students traveling to Pelham may be able to stay in Pelham student housing during the course. Housing is optional and is not included in tuition. Availability is limited. Students who need accommodations should request housing when registering. Explore [Student Housing](https://pelhamtraining.com/student-housing/) No Guarantees. Better Preparation. No school or instructor can guarantee that a student will pass the NREMT examination. What Pelham can provide is focused instruction, a structured review of Paramedic material, examination practice, and instructors who will work to identify the reasons a student has been unsuccessful. The next attempt should not simply be another attempt at the same thing. ### Preparing for Your Next NREMT Attempt? Students come to Beechwood to move patients, work through problems, make decisions, communicate with a team, and apply what they have learned in an environment that gives them room to operate. Located approximately 15 minutes from the Pelham schoolhouse, Beechwood expands the classroom into woods, water, uneven terrain, and field environments where scenarios can develop from first contact through patient movement and transport. This is where knowledge must become performance. ## A Training Ground — Not Just a property Beechwood is a former camp that Pelham has developed into a dedicated training environment. The property includes a 13-acre lake, wooded terrain, cabins, classroom space, a dining hall and commercial kitchen, low-angle rope training areas, open ground, and access to environments that simply cannot be recreated inside a traditional classroom. But the property itself isn’t the important part. What we can ask students to do there is. Instead of ending a lesson when the classroom portion is over, instructors can continue it into patient assessment, treatment, movement, communication, changing conditions, and increasingly complex scenarios. ## This Is Where the Lesson Gets Bigger A skill taught in the classroom is only one part of the job. At Beechwood, the problem can keep developing. The patient may need to be reached before they can be treated. Equipment may need to be moved with the team. The safest way out may not be obvious. The patient still needs care while they are being moved. Communication still matters. Decisions still have to be made. Training may involve litters, Skedcos, low-angle movement, water access, Zodiac operations, difficult terrain, night scenarios, or extended patient problems. But the equipment and terrain are not the point. The point is what happens to the student’s thinking when the problem becomes more complicated. Beechwood gives us room to let that happen. ## The Scenario Doesn’t Have to End at the Door Dispatch. Assessment. Treatment. Movement. Transport. Handoff. At Beechwood, scenarios can be built around the entire problem rather than a single isolated skill. Students may begin with limited information, locate and assess a patient, develop a treatment plan, determine how the patient will be moved, and continue managing the call as circumstances change. Sometimes the most important lesson isn’t whether the student remembered a particular procedure. It is whether they recognized what mattered, made a decision, and kept moving the call forward. Not Every Problem Has a Clean Floor Not every patient will be lying on a clean floor three feet from your equipment. EMS takes place in homes, vehicles, woods, water, roadside environments, and places nobody designed with patient care in mind. Beechwood allows Pelham instructors to introduce those realities during training rather than waiting for graduates to encounter them for the first time on the job. The goal is not to make training unnecessarily difficult. The goal is to make the environment relevant to the lesson. **Sometimes the Best Training Needs More Time** Some lessons fit neatly into a classroom period. Others shouldn’t. Beechwood gives Pelham the ability to keep training going when the lesson benefits from more time, more space, or a change in environment. Students may train into the evening, eat together in the dining hall, use classroom space on the property, and, when the course calls for it, stay overnight in the cabins. That means a training day does not always have to stop because the clock says the classroom day is over. It also gives instructors the ability to build longer problems, change conditions, move students from one scenario into another, and let the training develop naturally. Sometimes the next lesson begins before the last one feels completely finished. That is part of Beechwood too. ## Part of Pelham — Not a Separate Experience Beechwood supports the education taking place at the Pelham schoolhouse. Students first develop knowledge and skills through classroom instruction, lab work, and guided practice. Beechwood gives instructors another environment in which those skills can be applied. Different Pelham programs use the property in different ways depending on the course, season, training objectives, and needs of the students. **A Classroom Teaches the Lesson. Stay at Pelham. Focus on the reason you came. Many Pelham students travel from outside the area — and often from outside Indiana — to attend one of our programs. On-site student housing makes that possible without requiring students to find a hotel, short-term apartment, or make a long commute every day. Our dormitory-style housing is located at the Pelham Schoolhouse, putting students just steps away from class, skills areas, study space, and their classmates. For the time you are here, Pelham becomes home base. **Built for Students Who Are Here to Train** Accelerated education asks a lot of a student. When class ends, there may still be material to review, skills to practice, questions to work through, or preparation to do for the next day. Living on site makes that easier. Students can study together, use available student areas, practice skills when permitted, prepare meals, work out, or simply get some rest without adding another commute to the day. ### Dormitory-Style Accommodations: Housing includes a combination of dormitory-style rooms and bunk rooms. Rooms include beds, storage space, and areas for personal belongings and study. Students staying at Pelham also have access to shared facilities including: - Student kitchen and dining area: - Refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, cookware and basic kitchen equipment - Outdoor grill - Student resource and study areas - Recreation space - Fitness room - Laundry facilities - Showers - Wi-Fi - Student parking - Access to designated skills practice areas It isn’t a hotel. It is student housing built around the reason you are here: training. --- - ![](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/student-housing-1024x534.jpg) - ![](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/single_bed_crop-1024x665.jpg) - ![Pelham Training EMT Course, Paramedic Course](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Student-Housing-1024x685.png) **Study. Eat. Train. Repeat.** One of the advantages of living at Pelham is being surrounded by other people working toward the same goal. Questions from class continue over dinner. Students study together. Someone may understand the concept you were struggling with — and tomorrow you may be the person helping them. That community becomes an important part of the Pelham experience for many students. **Everything You Need Is Close By** Students have several food and shopping options within a short distance of the Schoolhouse, including restaurants, groceries, and basic supplies. The on-site kitchen also allows students who prefer to prepare their own meals to do so throughout their stay. **Housing Availability** Housing availability varies by program and class size. Some programs may have different housing arrangements, requirements, or costs. Prospective students should contact Pelham before making travel arrangements. Housing space is limited, so early arrangements are recommended. This 36-hour course does not by itself complete the entire 40-hour requirement. Students are responsible for completing any remaining continuing education and any state, local, agency, or certification requirements that apply to them. --- ## How You’ll Train This is not 36 hours of sitting through presentations. Some material requires classroom instruction. Other material is better learned by discussing a patient problem, practicing a skill, working through a decision, or managing a scenario. Students will review core EMT concepts, current patient-care practices, medical and trauma emergencies, assessment, communication, and treatment decisions. Throughout the course, students will be asked to take what has been reviewed and apply it. The goal is for the information to remain useful after the recertification paperwork is finished — something you can take back to your next shift and your next patient. --- ## Course Schedule The course is conducted over three consecutive days. Day 1: 8:00 AM–8:00 PM Day 2: 8:00 AM–8:00 PM Day 3: 8:00 AM–8:00 PM Students should expect to participate throughout all three days. The schedule may include classroom instruction, discussion, quizzes or examinations, skills practice, patient-care exercises, tabletop problems, and scenario-based training. An assignment may be given during the course for completion outside scheduled classroom activities. Who Should Attend? This is a functional, purpose-driven facility where the emphasis is on learning and doing. You’ll find: • Dedicated classroom space for lectures and group discussions • Skills practice areas for hands-on training (airway management, IV stations, patient assessment, trauma care, and more) • Room to organize equipment and run realistic indoor scenarios • Student areas for studying, meals, and squad collaboration between sessions The schoolhouse serves as our daily base for classroom work and skills practice. It’s clean, practical, and built for focused learning. Every dollar we have goes toward experienced instructors, quality materials, and — most importantly — real training time rather than fancy extras. --- [Explore the Schoolhouse](https://pelhamtraining.com/pelham-schoolhouse/) --- ## Pelham Beechwood (Acquired 2023) Just minutes from the schoolhouse sits our 67-acre Beechwood Training Site — a former 1960s Christian summer camp turned authentic EMS and tactical training campus. This is where classroom knowledge meets the real world. Students spend multiple immersive days here practicing in natural conditions: • Woods and open fields for mass casualty, trauma, and tactical scenarios • Private lake access for Zodiac operations and water recovery exercises • Natural slopes for low-angle rope and technical rescue • Realistic outdoor simulations in all weather — rain, heat, and mud The site has rustic but functional buildings (updated kitchen, classroom in the former chapel, lodging cabins). It’s not polished — it’s real. And that’s exactly why it builds strong, adaptable providers. --- [Explore Pelham Beechwood](https://pelhamtraining.com/pelham-beechwood/) --- ## How the Two Locations Work Together Most classroom and skills work happen at the Bloomfield schoolhouse. Students then head to Beechwood for multiple days of immersive, outdoor scenarios (1–2 days for the 17-Day EMT Program and several days for the Paramedic Program). This combination gives you the best of both: structured learning + rugged, real-world practice. No fancy simulation labs. No wasted money. Just honest, effective training that prepares you for the job. --- --- ### [Courses: Overview of Programs available at Pelham](https://pelhamtraining.com/courses/) **Published:** July 3, 2025 **Author:** Po Luc **Content:** --- # List of Courses currently available at Pelham Training Can’t find the courses you’re looking for? TALK TO PELHAM 812-381-9001 <emscourses@pelhamtraining.com> Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm --- ### [Traditional EMT Program](https://pelhamtraining.com/traditional-emt-program/) **Published:** December 24, 2025 **Author:** Po Luc **Content:** --- ## **Traditional EMT Program** ## **Same destination. A different schedule.** Not everyone can step away from work, family, and everyday life for 17 consecutive days. For students who need EMT education to fit around the rest of their lives, Pelham offers a traditional evening format. You get more time between classes. **You do not get a lesser EMT education.** ## **A Schedule Built for Local Students** The Traditional EMT Program meets: **Tuesdays and Thursdays** **5:30 PM – 9:30 PM** Plus, **three Saturdays** scheduled during the course. The format allows students to continue working and managing other responsibilities while progressing through EMT education over a longer period. **What You Will Learn** Becoming an EMT requires more than memorizing signs, symptoms, and treatment steps. Students learn how to assess patients, recognize what matters, provide appropriate care, communicate with patients and other responders, move patients safely, and begin putting an entire call together. Training includes: - Classroom instruction - Skills development and practice - Patient assessment - Medical and trauma care - Patient movement and ambulance-related skills - Scenario-based training - Clinical experience - Preparation for certification testing The pieces begin separately. **The goal is learning how to put them together.** **Time Between Classes Can Be an Advantage** The traditional schedule creates something the accelerated format intentionally does not: **time between lessons.** Students can review material, study, practice, ask new questions, and return to the next class ready to build on what they have already learned. For some students, that rhythm is exactly what they need. **Not Everything Happens in a Classroom** EMTs do not work at desks. As students develop the knowledge and skills to manage patients, training begins to ask more of them. Scenarios become less about demonstrating an isolated skill and more about figuring out what needs to happen next. • Assessment. • Treatment. • Communication. • Movement. • Reassessment. • Decision-making. When appropriate to the course and training objectives, Pelham can extend that education beyond the classroom and into the environments available at **Pelham Beechwood**. **The environment changes. The responsibility does not.** **Clinical Experience** EMT students also complete required clinical experience as part of the program. Clinical education gives students an opportunity to observe and participate in patient care while beginning to connect what they have learned in class with the realities of EMS. Pelham will provide students with information regarding clinical requirements and scheduling during the course. **Who Is This Program For?** The Traditional EMT Program may be a good fit if you: - Want to become an EMT but cannot attend 17 consecutive days - Need an evening schedule - Work during the day - Have family or other responsibilities that make an accelerated schedule difficult - Prefer more time between lessons to study and prepare - Live within reasonable driving distance of Pelham You do **not** need previous EMS or medical experience to begin. You need to be ready to learn. **Tuition** **$1,500** **Textbook purchased separately.** Additional enrollment requirements and course information will be provided before the program begins. **Accelerated or Traditional?** Pelham EMT formats lead toward the same objective. The difference is how you get there. **17-Day Accelerated EMT** A concentrated schedule for students who can make EMT education their primary focus for 17 consecutive days. **Traditional EMT** An evening schedule that spreads the education over a longer period so students can continue managing work, family, and other responsibilities. **Different schedules. Same expectation when you finish.** **Leave Ready to Take the Next Step** The objective is not simply to finish an EMT class. It is to leave with the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to continue toward certification and begin functioning as an EMT. **Learn it. Practice it. Put it together.** **Traditional EMT Course Availability** Pelham’s Traditional EMT Program is offered **periodically based on local demand** and is not part of a fixed recurring schedule. Classes may be scheduled when there is sufficient local interest or when an agency, fire department, or other organization has a group ready to train. If no Traditional EMT class is currently scheduled, you can submit your information, and we will contact you when the next course is being planned. **VIEW CURRENT [EMT OPTIONS](https://pelhamtraining.com/courses/)** **JOIN THE [TRADITIONAL EMT INTEREST LIST](https://pelhamtraining.com/traditional-emt-interest-list/)** --- ### [Paramedic Program: Take your career to the next level](https://pelhamtraining.com/paramedic-program/) **Published:** August 28, 2020 **Author:** Po Luc **Content:** --- ## **Take Your EMS Career to the Next Level** ## Accelerated Paramedic Program Approximately 17 weeks • 1,250 hours of training • CAAHEP-accredited • Veteran approved Pelham’s Accelerated Paramedic Program combines classroom instruction, laboratory training, clinical education, field experience, and scenario-based training in one focused program. Students move beyond learning individual skills and begin putting the entire patient encounter together — assessment, treatment decisions, pharmacology, communication, teamwork, transport, reassessment, and continued patient management. The pace is demanding and the expectations are high. Students are expected to participate fully, prepare outside scheduled class time, accept feedback, and become increasingly responsible for their own clinical decisions as the program progresses. Approximately four months. 1,250 hours of Paramedic education and training. [View Upcoming Cohorts](https://pelhamtraining.com/course-calendar/)[Enroll Now](https://pelhamtraining.com/paramedic-program-registration-form/)[Request Information](https://pelhamtraining.com/contact-us/) --- ### **Program** at a Glance - Duration: Approximately 17 weeks - Training: Approximately 1,250 hours - Location: Pelham Training, Bloomfield, Indiana - Accreditation: CAAHEP-accredited Paramedic program - Format: Classroom instruction, laboratory training, clinical education, field experience, and scenario-based training - Included Certifications: ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS - Clinical Education: Hospital and pre-hospital clinical rotations with assigned preceptors - Housing: Optional student housing is available for students who need accommodations during the program - Veterans: Approved for eligible veteran’s education benefits ### **What** the Program Covers Paramedic education builds on the EMT foundation and moves into more advanced assessment, treatment, and clinical decision-making. Students study and practice: - Advanced patient assessment - Anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology - Airway and respiratory management - Cardiology and ECG interpretation - Pharmacology and medication administration - Medical emergencies - Trauma assessment and management - Hemorrhage control and shock - Pediatric emergencies - Obstetric and neonatal care - Geriatric and special-population care - EMS operations - Communication and documentation - Team leadership - Clinical decision-making ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS are incorporated into the program. ## How the Program Progresses **Foundations** Students begin by strengthening patient assessment, communication, documentation, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Laboratory sessions introduce the practical skills that will continue to develop throughout the program. **Airway, Cardiology & Pharmacology** Students progress into advanced airway management, ventilation, cardiology, ECG interpretation, cardiovascular emergencies, pharmacology, medication preparation, and medication administration. Individual skills are practiced first. Then those skills begin appearing together in patient-care scenarios. **Medical Emergencies** Students study the assessment and treatment of neurologic, respiratory, endocrine, toxicologic, infectious, environmental, and other medical emergencies. The emphasis increasingly shifts from identifying a condition to deciding what to do about it. **Trauma** Trauma education includes patient assessment, hemorrhage control, shock, burns, head and chest injuries, spinal and musculoskeletal trauma, trauma systems, and other time-sensitive injuries. Students work through both individual skills and complete trauma-patient encounters. **Special Populations & EMS Operations** Students address pediatric, obstetric, neonatal, geriatric, and special-population patients along with ambulance operations, EMS systems, communication, safety, and other operational responsibilities of the Paramedic. **Integration & Capstone** As the program progresses, students are expected to bring the individual pieces together. Assessment. ECG interpretation. Airway management. Medications. Communication. Treatment decisions. Team leadership. Reassessment. Scenarios become less about demonstrating a single skill and more about managing the patient from beginning to end. As students become more capable, instructors begin to step back. Eventually, the instructor will not be standing beside them. We train with that in mind. ## **Clinical Education** Clinical experience is a major part of Pelham’s Paramedic program. Students complete hospital and pre-hospital clinical rotations with assigned preceptors as they progress through the course. Early clinical experiences allow students to apply classroom and laboratory material in actual patient-care environments. Later experiences require students to bring more of the patient encounter together — assessment, communication, treatment decisions, procedures, medications, reassessment, and continued management. The final field experience is designed to integrate the components of Paramedic education under the supervision of experienced preceptors. Clinical assignments are primarily located in central Indiana. When appropriate and when affiliation arrangements can be established, other locations may sometimes be considered. Students are responsible for transportation to and from assigned clinical sites. ## **Training Beyond the Classroom** Not everything in Paramedic education belongs behind a desk. Pelham Beechwood gives instructors access to 67 acres of wooded terrain, open ground, a 13-acre lake, cabins, classrooms, and other environments where selected training can move outside the traditional classroom and laboratory setting. Depending on course objectives, weather, and conditions, students may work through field scenarios involving patient movement, extended patient encounters, team operations, environmental challenges, and multi-patient situations. The purpose is not simply to make scenarios harder. It is to require students to use what they know when patient care, communication, movement, surroundings, and decision-making all must be managed at the same time. ## **What Makes the Pelham Paramedic Program Different** • Approximately 17 weeks of focused Paramedic education • Approximately 1,250 hours of training • CAAHEP-accredited Paramedic program • Classroom, laboratory, clinical, field, and scenario-based education • ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS included • Hospital and pre-hospital clinical experience • Experienced EMS instructors • Veteran approved • Optional student housing • Students from across the United States and around the world Pelham has provided EMS education for more than two decades. Our goal is not simply to move students through a curriculum. It is to help them develop the knowledge, skills, judgment, and decision-making expected of an entry-level Paramedic — and to continue learning after graduation. ## Student Housing Students travel to Pelham from across the country, and optional housing is available for those who need accommodations during the program. Housing is located at Pelham facilities and is separate from standard Paramedic tuition. Availability is limited, so students interested in housing should request information early in the enrollment process. Explore [Student Housing](https://pelhamtraining.com/student-housing/) ## Tuition Paramedic Tuition: $13,500 (for enrollments prior to December 31, 2026) Paramedic tuition price increases to $15,000 January 1, 2027 Tuition includes Paramedic instruction, required program materials, Online testing and clinical scheduling platform, Online topic reviews from medical director, clinical placement, ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS. Housing is available separately. Students should review the current cohort information for applicable tuition, housing costs, payment deadlines, and available funding options. ## Before the Program Begins Applicants must meet Pelham’s Paramedic admission requirements and hold the EMT certification or licensure required for entry into Paramedic education. After enrollment, students receive detailed instructions regarding documentation, clinical requirements, health records, equipment, uniforms, textbooks, and preparation for the program. Because the program moves quickly, students are expected to complete all required documentation and preparation before the first day of class. ## After the Program Students who successfully complete Pelham’s Paramedic program will have completed the educational requirements of the program and be prepared to move forward with the applicable certification and testing process, including the NREMT Paramedic Certification Examination. Graduation is not the end of learning. Pelham’s goal is to graduate Paramedics who understand the medicine, can perform the skills they have been taught, can work with a team, can make decisions, and are prepared to continue developing throughout their careers. ### Ready for Paramedic School? --- [View Upcoming Cohorts](https://pelhamtraining.com/course-calendar/)[Enroll Now](https://pelhamtraining.com/paramedic-program-registration-form/)[Request Information](https://pelhamtraining.com/contact-us/) --- ##### CAAHEP Accredited [![Paramedic Program CAAHEP Accreditation picture](https://pelhamtraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/CAAHEP_Full_DBlue.gif)](http://www.coaemsp.org) To contact CoAEMSP Executive Office: 8301 Lakeview Parkway Suite 111‐312 Rowlett, TX 75088 214‐703‐8445 FAX 214‐703‐8992 [www.coaemsp.org](http://www.coaemsp.org) --- ##### **NREMT Pass and Job Placement Rate** | **Year** | **Students Enrolled** | **Retention** | **National Registry Pass Rate** | **Psychomotor Exam Pass Rate** | **Positive Job Placement** | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | 2018 | *No Graduates during the reporting year* | – | – | – | – | | 2019 | 12 | 91.7% | 91% | 100% | 100% | | 2020 | 23 | 100% | 78.3% | 100% | 100% | | 2021 | 43 | 95.6% | 81.4% | 100% | 93% | | 2022 | 56 | 85.7% | 70.8 | 100% | 100% | | 2023 | 29 | 96.6% | 67.9% | 100% | 92.9% | | 2024 | 39 | 97.4% | 78.4% | 100% | 100% | --- ### [Request Transcript: Let us know if you require your transcript](https://pelhamtraining.com/request-transcript/) **Published:** October 21, 2023 **Author:** Po Luc **Content:** --- ## Request Transcript Form Please be informed that the Request Transcript form is intended solely for students who have completed the Paramedic Program successfully. The course combines current Paramedic education with patient cases, skills, clinical decision-making, and scenario-based training. This is not an online CE package moved into a classroom. Students will be expected to think, participate, discuss, practice, make decisions, and manage patients throughout the six-day program. ## Course at a Glance **Duration:** Six consecutive days **Schedule:** Approximately 10 hours per day Continuing Education: 60 hours **Location:** Pelham Training, Bloomfield, Indiana **Format:** Classroom instruction, case-based learning, skills review, exercises, and scenario-based patient care **Tuition:** $895 Tuition + Pelham Housing: $1,195 when housing is available ## The 60-Hour NCCP Structure The current National Registry Paramedic recertification model requires 60 continuing education hours: • 30 hours — National Component • 15 hours — Local/State Component • 15 hours — Individual Component Pelham’s 60-Hour Paramedic Recertification Intensive is designed to provide 60 hours of EMS-related continuing education addressing this structure. Because Local/State requirements can vary, students should verify whether their state, region, employer, or medical director requires particular content within those hours. NREMT considers Local/State hours flexible when no specific local content is required. **Why 60 Hours at Pelham?** There are easier ways to *collect* CE hours. This course is for providers who want to *use* those hours. Students review current medicine and then apply it through patient cases, medication problems, ECG interpretation, skills, discussions, and complete patient-care scenarios. The goal is to finish the week with more than a stack of continuing education certificates. The hours count. The training should too. **Six-Day Course Outline** **Day 1 — Assessment, Airway & Respiratory Care** The course begins with patient assessment and the decisions that drive everything that follows. Topics may include: • Patient assessment • Clinical decision-making • Airway evaluation • Oxygenation and ventilation • Advanced airway management • Respiratory emergencies • Difficult airway considerations • Airway skills and patient cases • Students move from review into application throughout the day. **Day 2 — Cardiology & Resuscitation** Cardiac care is approached through rhythm recognition, 12-lead ECG interpretation, clinical presentation, treatment decisions, and patient management. Topics may include: • ECG interpretation • 12-lead ECGs • Acute coronary syndromes • Bradycardia and tachycardia • Cardiac pharmacology • Cardiac arrest • Post-resuscitation care • Complex cardiac patient scenarios **Day 3 — Medical Emergencies & Pharmacology** Students work through medical patients whose presentations do not always arrive with an obvious diagnosis. Topics may include: • Neurologic emergencies • Endocrine emergencies • Toxicology • Infectious disease • Shock • Altered mental status • Pharmacology • Medication preparation and administration • Dosage calculations • Complex medical cases The emphasis is placed on assessment, differential thinking, treatment decisions, and reassessment. **Day 4 — Trauma** Trauma education moves from assessment and individual interventions into complete patient management. Topics may include: • Trauma assessment • Hemorrhage control • Shock • Head injuries • Chest injuries • Burns • Musculoskeletal trauma • Time-sensitive decision-making • Patient movement • Trauma scenarios When course objectives and conditions allow, portions of this day may be conducted at Pelham Beechwood. **Day 5 — Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Special Populations** Patients do not all present or respond the same way. Topics may include: • Pediatric assessment • Pediatric respiratory and cardiac emergencies • Pediatric resuscitation • Obstetric emergencies • Delivery • Neonatal care • Geriatric patients • Behavioral emergencies • Patients with special healthcare needs Cases and scenarios require students to adjust assessment and treatment to the patient in front of them. **Day 6 — Operations, Integration & Capstone** The final day brings the pieces together. Topics may include: • EMS operations • Communication • Documentation • Crew resource management • Patient safety • Operational decision-making • Multi-patient situations • Extended patient encounters • Complete patient-care scenarios Students should expect scenarios in which the diagnosis, treatment path, and outcome are not announced beforehand. Assessment. Treatment. Medications. Communication. Leadership. Reassessment. By the final day, the patient is the assignment. ## Who Should Attend? The 60-Hour Paramedic Recertification Intensive is designed for: - Nationally Registered Paramedics completing continuing education for recertification - Paramedics who prefer to complete a large portion of their CE requirements in one concentrated program - Providers returning to active Paramedic practice - Experienced Paramedics who want a substantial clinical review - Paramedics traveling from outside the area who prefer one scheduled training period rather than multiple smaller courses ## A Note for Indiana Paramedics National Registry and state licensing requirements are not always identical. The National Registry currently requires 60 continuing education hours for Paramedic recertification. Indiana currently requires 72 hours of continuing education for Paramedic renewal, including 48 hours of approved refresher or equivalent education plus additional continuing education and other requirements. Indiana-licensed Paramedics should therefore review current Indiana requirements when planning their state renewal. Pelham can provide documentation of the education completed during this course. **Physical Participation** Some portions of the course are physically active. Students may be required to lift or carry equipment, kneel, work close to the ground, move patients or training equipment, and participate in indoor or outdoor scenarios. Students must be able to participate safely in required course activities, with reasonable accommodations when applicable. ## What to Bring Students should bring: • Laptop or tablet suitable for coursework • Notebook and writing materials • Clothing appropriate for skills and scenario training • Seasonal clothing • Sturdy closed-toe footwear • Clothing that can tolerate normal wear during training Additional course information will be provided before arrival. **Tuition:** $895 Tuition includes: • 60 hours of Paramedic continuing education • Classroom and case-based instruction • Skills review • Scenario-based training • Pelham-provided instructional materials • Documentation of completed continuing education ## Tuition + Pelham Housing **Cost:** $1,195 For students traveling to Pelham, a tuition-and-housing option may be available for $1,195, subject to housing availability. The package includes course tuition and Pelham student housing for the scheduled training period. Meals and transportation are not included unless specifically stated for a particular course. Because housing space is limited, students interested in this option should request accommodations when registering. Many students arrive with no previous EMS experience or medical background. What matters more is your willingness to learn, participate, and keep up with the pace of the program. **Is the 17-Day EMT Program easier because it is accelerated?** No. **Accelerated describes the schedule — not a reduced education.** Students move through classroom instruction, skills training, clinical experience, and field-based training in 17 consecutive days. The format works well for students who want to focus intensely on EMT education and move forward without spreading the program across several months. **What is the difference between accelerated and traditional training?** The primary difference is the schedule. The **17-Day Accelerated EMT Program** is completed in 17 consecutive days. The **Traditional EMT Program** spreads the education across a longer schedule for students who need to balance training with work, family, or other responsibilities. Different schedules. Same objective: **Prepare students to function as EMTs.** **Can I come to Pelham from another state?** Absolutely. Pelham regularly trains students who travel to Indiana for their education. On-site student housing is available for many programs, making it possible to come to Pelham without arranging a hotel or short-term apartment for the entire course. If you are traveling from outside Indiana, we recommend checking your home state’s EMS certification or licensure requirements before enrolling. **Will my EMT or Paramedic certification work in another state?** EMS certification and licensure are controlled by individual states. National Registry certification is widely used as part of the certification or reciprocity process, but each state establishes its own requirements. Students planning to work outside Indiana should contact the EMS office in the state where they intend to practice. Pelham can provide the course-completion documentation you need from us, but your home state determines its licensing requirements. **What happens after I complete my EMT program?** Completing the course is an important step, but course completion and certification are not the same thing. Graduates must complete the applicable Indiana skills requirements, successfully complete the National Registry EMT certification examination, and meet the requirements for state certification before practicing as an Indiana EMT. Pelham will explain the process and help students understand what comes next before they leave the program. **Do I need years of EMT experience before entering Paramedic school?** No. Pelham does not believe every student needs to spend several years working as an EMT before beginning Paramedic education. Students must meet the entry requirements for the program, and previous field experience can certainly be valuable. But experience continues to develop throughout a career. For newer EMTs who want additional preparation before beginning Paramedic school, Pelham may also offer pre-course preparation designed to strengthen ambulance operations, patient movement, field workflow, communication, and clinical readiness. **How does student housing work?** Pelham offers dormitory-style student housing at the Schoolhouse for many of our programs. Students have access to shared kitchen and dining areas, study and recreation space, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, and other student amenities. Housing availability varies by program and class size, so arrangements should be made early. **[VIEW STUDENT HOUSING](https://pelhamtraining.com/student-housing/)** **Does Pelham accept VA education benefits?** Pelham is a VA-approved school, and eligible veterans may use approved VA education benefits for qualifying programs. Because eligibility and benefit amounts vary, students should work directly with the VA to determine their individual benefits. Pelham staff can provide the school and program information needed for the enrollment process. **LEARN MORE ABOUT [VETERANS & MILITARY](https://pelhamtraining.com/veterans-military/)** Visit the [U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs](https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/) for more details. **What is a PSID?** PSID stands for **Public Safety Identification**. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security uses PSID numbers to identify public safety personnel for training and certification records. Students who need a PSID will receive instructions as part of the enrollment process. Visit the [Indiana Department of Homeland Security](https://www.in.gov/dhs/fire-and-building-safety/public-safety-identification-psid-application/) for more details. **Do you offer custom training for agencies or military units?** Yes. Pelham can work with EMS agencies, fire departments, law enforcement organizations, military units, and other groups to discuss training built around their personnel, schedule, and objectives. Training may take place at the Pelham Schoolhouse, Pelham Beechwood, or another location when appropriate. **Tell us what your people need to be able to do. We’ll talk about how to train for it.** **[CONTACT PELHAM](https://pelhamtraining.com/custom-course/)** **Can I request a transcript or training record from Pelham?** Yes. Former students who need transcripts, course-completion records, or other training documentation can submit a request to Pelham. **[REQUEST A TRANSCRIPT](https://pelhamtraining.com/request-transcript/)** If you completed training with Pelham many years ago, additional documentation may be required to locate and verify your record. **Other useful links** The [National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians](https://www.nremt.org/about/about-us) (NREMT) ### **Still Have Questions?** If you cannot find what you need, just ask. **812-381-9001** **emscourses@pelhamtraining.com** [Contact Pelham](https://pelhamtraining.com/contact-us/) --- ### [Contact Us: Have questions or concerns?](https://pelhamtraining.com/contact-us/) **Published:** August 29, 2020 **Author:** Po Luc **Content:** --- ## Contact Pelham Training ## Let’s start a conversation. We value that relationship and are proud to welcome those who have served — and those who continue to serve. ## Veterans Pelham is a VA-approved school, allowing eligible veterans to use approved VA education benefits for qualifying programs. Our staff can help prospective students understand Pelham program options and the information they may need when working with the VA. ## Military Students Military students have trained at Pelham individually and as part of organized military programs. We understand that military students often arrive with experience, expectations, and training backgrounds that may be different from those of traditional civilian students. Our job is not to make that experience fit a mold. Our job is to build on it. ## Veteran Organizations Pelham welcomes opportunities to work with organizations that support veterans transitioning into EMS, advancing their medical education, or preparing for civilian employment. If your organization is looking for a training partner, we would be glad to talk. ## Training for Military Units Pelham can also develop training for military units and groups. [Contact Pelham](https://pelhamtraining.com/contact-us/) --- ### [Pelham Schoolhouse](https://pelhamtraining.com/pelham-schoolhouse/) **Published:** September 20, 2026 **Author:** Po Luc **Content:** --- ## Pelham Schoolhouse ## The center of everyday life at Pelham. The Pelham Schoolhouse is where most students begin their training and where much of the daily work of becoming an EMT or Paramedic takes place. Our approximately 20,000-square-foot facility brings classroom instruction, skills training, study, student housing, and day-to-day school life together in one place. For students traveling to Pelham from across Indiana or across the country, it becomes more than the building where they attend class. For a while, this is home base. **Built Around the Student** Pelham programs move quickly, and students spend a lot of time here. That makes the environment important. Classrooms and training areas allow instructors to move between lecture, demonstration, practice, testing, and discussion without separating those pieces of the education from one another. Students can learn a concept, work through it with an instructor, practice it, make mistakes, ask questions, and come back to it again. The Schoolhouse is where the foundation gets built. **More Than a Classroom Building** The Schoolhouse was designed to support students who may be coming a long way to train with us. Dorm-style student housing is available on site, placing students close to class, instructors, classmates, and the resources they use every day. That changes the rhythm of an accelerated program. Instead of spending hours commuting back and forth, students can remain focused on the course, study with classmates, prepare for the next day, and settle into the routine of training. For many students, Pelham becomes their community for the time they are here. **Learn It. Practice It. Come Back to It.** EMS education requires repetition. A concept taught in the morning may become a skill in the afternoon, a patient problem later in the week, and eventually part of a much larger scenario. The Schoolhouse gives instructors the ability to keep connecting those pieces. Students are not simply moving from one unrelated class period to another. They are building toward being able to put the whole call together. **Where the Work Happens** There are easier ways to spend a few weeks or a few months. Students come to Pelham because they have something they are trying to accomplish. Some are entering EMS for the first time. Others are advancing to Paramedic, preparing for an examination, returning for continuing education, or training as part of a military or agency program. The backgrounds may be different. The expectation is the same: Come ready to learn. We will give you plenty to work on. ## One Pelham. Two Training Environments. The Schoolhouse and Beechwood serve different purposes, but they are part of the same education. At the Schoolhouse, students build knowledge, develop skills, practice, question, repeat, and prepare. At Beechwood, instructors have the space to make the problem larger. Learn it here. Then find out what happens when you have to use it. Most training days begin at 8:00 AM and may run approximately 10 hours, depending on the day’s objectives. Students should expect a full schedule throughout the 17-day program. No two days are exactly the same. Some days begin with classroom instruction. Others may begin with a quiz, skills practice, or an exercise. As new material is introduced, students move between instruction, demonstration, hands-on practice, patient assessment, and scenario work. Clinical rotations consist of two 12-hour ambulance shifts with assigned preceptors. Students should expect the program to require their full attention for all 17 days. --- ## How You’ll Train: Students learn through a combination of classroom instruction, instructor demonstration, skills practice, discussion, testing, clinical experience, and scenario-based training. Early in the course, instructors teach and demonstrate. Students practice individual skills, assessments, and patient-care techniques. As the course progresses, those individual pieces begin to come together. Students are expected to assess patients, communicate with their team, make treatment decisions, move patients, reassess their care, and adapt when circumstances change. Scenario training gives students an opportunity to use what they have learned rather than simply repeat it. As students become more capable, instructors begin to step back. Eventually, the instructor will not be standing beside them. We train with that in mind. --- ## Training Beyond the Classroom: Some portions of the EMT program move outside the traditional classroom and laboratory environment. Pelham Beechwood gives students access to 67 acres of wooded terrain, open ground, a 13-acre lake, and other environments where they can work through patient movement, teamwork, problem solving, and field scenarios. The objective is not simply to make training harder. It is to give students opportunities to apply what they have learned when the surroundings, movement, communication, and patient-care problems all have to be managed at the same time. ## Who Attends Pelham’s EMT Program? Pelham students come from many different backgrounds. They include people beginning a career in EMS, fire service personnel, military personnel, college and pre-professional students, park and public-safety personnel, industrial response teams, career changers, and individuals who need EMT education for another professional role. Students have traveled to Pelham from across the United States and around the world. The common requirement is the ability to commit fully to an accelerated 17-day program. --- ## Physical Participation: EMT education is physically active. Students should expect to lift and carry equipment, practice patient movement, kneel, stand for extended periods, work close to the ground, and participate in indoor and outdoor training activities. Students must be able to participate safely in required course activities, with reasonable accommodations when applicable. --- ## What to Bring: Students should bring a laptop or tablet suitable for coursework, note-taking materials, appropriate seasonal clothing, and sturdy closed-toe footwear. Detailed clothing, equipment, and course preparation requirements are provided before class begins. --- ## Tuition: **$3,800** Tuition covers the 17-day EMT course and required instructional components. Clinical assignments are arranged as part of the program. ## Student Housing: Complimentary dorm-style housing may be available to enrolled students on a first-come, first-served basis. Housing is optional and is not required to attend the EMT program. Students interested in housing should request accommodations as early as possible Explore [Student Housing](https://pelhamtraining.com/student-housing/) --- ## Before Class Begins: After enrollment, students receive a Welcome Packet with detailed instructions and required documentation. Students will need to provide a current TB test, Public Safety Identification Number (PSID) when applicable, a copy of their driver’s license, and any additional health, identification, or clinical documentation required for participation. Students should complete all requested documentation by the deadlines provided in their Welcome Packet. ## Transportation and Clinicals: Students are responsible for transportation to and from assigned clinical sites. Clinical locations are generally within the surrounding area, and students frequently coordinate carpools when needed. Attendance at all assigned clinical rotations is required for successful completion of the program. --- ## After the Course: Students who successfully complete the program will have completed Pelham’s EMT educational requirements and be prepared to move forward with the applicable certification and testing process, including the NREMT EMT examination. Completion of the course is the beginning of professional development as an EMT, not the end of it. Pelham’s goal is to graduate students who understand the fundamentals, can perform the skills they have been taught, can work with others, and are prepared to continue learning as EMS professionals. ### Ready for the Next EMT Class? Today, Pelham operates from a 20,000-square-foot schoolhouse in Bloomfield, Indiana, with additional field training conducted at the 67-acre Pelham Beechwood Training Grounds. For more than two decades, students have come to Pelham from every U.S. state and from around the world, including every continent, for EMT and Paramedic education, continuing education, and specialized medical training. Our students have included new EMTs, experienced EMS professionals, military personnel, veterans, firefighters, and agency-sponsored providers. Pelham remains independently operated and focused on one thing: **EMS education.** **How We Train:** Pelham students are expected to learn more than isolated facts and individual skills. Classroom instruction and laboratory practice establish the foundation. Clinical experience puts students alongside working healthcare professionals. Scenario and field training require students to bring those pieces together. Assessment. Communication. Treatment decisions. Teamwork. Patient movement. Reassessment. Adaptation when something changes. As students progress, instructors gradually step back. The goal is for students to learn to think through problems and make decisions without someone coaching every move. **Eventually, the instructor will not be standing beside them. We train with that in mind.** **More Than Two Decades of Pelham:** • **Early 1990s:** Began providing emergency medical training • **2005:** Pelham Training formally established • **2019:** Moved into the current 20,000-square-foot Bloomfield schoolhouse • **2023:** Added the 67-acre Pelham Beechwood Training Grounds • **Today:** EMT, Paramedic, military, agency, and specialized medical education **What Pelham Brings to EMS Education:** • **Focused EMS education** Pelham is built around emergency medical training rather than EMS being one program inside a much larger institution. • **Classroom through field** Students move between classroom instruction, laboratory practice, clinical experience, and scenario-based training. • **Room to train** The schoolhouse and Beechwood Training Grounds give instructors multiple environments in which to teach and evaluate students. • **Experience with different student populations** Pelham has trained civilian EMS students, military personnel, veterans, firefighters, and agency-sponsored students from across the United States and around the world. Our goal is to graduate students who can think, make decisions, work with others, and continue learning long after the course is over. **Explore Pelham** --- [View Dates & Enroll](https://pelhamtraining.com/course-calendar/)[Explore Our Facilities](https://pelhamtraining.com/our-facilities/)[Contact Us](https://pelhamtraining.com/contact-us/) --- ### [Wilderness & Rural 5-Day Initial Registration Form](https://pelhamtraining.com/wilderness-rural-5-day-initial-registration-form/) **Published:** December 24, 2025 **Author:** Po Luc **Content:** --- # Wilderness & Rural 5-Day Initial Registration Form ## \*\* IMPORTANT \*\* Fill out this form to show your interest in our Wilderness & Rural 5-Day Course.
