Our Story
Who We Are:
Pelham Training has been involved in emergency medical education since the early 1990s and was formally established in 2005.
Today, Pelham operates from a 20,000-square-foot schoolhouse in Bloomfield, Indiana, with additional field training conducted at the 67-acre Pelham Beechwood Training Grounds.
For more than two decades, students have come to Pelham from every U.S. state and from around the world, including every continent, for EMT and Paramedic education, continuing education, and specialized medical training.
Our students have included new EMTs, experienced EMS professionals, military personnel, veterans, firefighters, and agency-sponsored providers.
Pelham remains independently operated and focused on one thing: EMS education.
How We Train:
Pelham students are expected to learn more than isolated facts and individual skills.
Classroom instruction and laboratory practice establish the foundation. Clinical experience puts students alongside working healthcare professionals. Scenario and field training require students to bring those pieces together.
Assessment. Communication. Treatment decisions. Teamwork. Patient movement. Reassessment. Adaptation when something changes.
As students progress, instructors gradually step back. The goal is for students to learn to think through problems and make decisions without someone coaching every move.
Eventually, the instructor will not be standing beside them. We train with that in mind.
More Than Two Decades of Pelham:
• Early 1990s: Began providing emergency medical training
• 2005: Pelham Training formally established
• 2019: Moved into the current 20,000-square-foot Bloomfield schoolhouse
• 2023: Added the 67-acre Pelham Beechwood Training Grounds
• Today: EMT, Paramedic, military, agency, and specialized medical education
What Pelham Brings to EMS Education:
• Focused EMS education
Pelham is built around emergency medical training rather than EMS being one program inside a much larger institution.
• Classroom through field
Students move between classroom instruction, laboratory practice, clinical experience, and scenario-based training.
• Room to train
The schoolhouse and Beechwood Training Grounds give instructors multiple environments in which to teach and evaluate students.
• Experience with different student populations
Pelham has trained civilian EMS students, military personnel, veterans, firefighters, and agency-sponsored students from across the United States and around the world.
Our goal is to graduate students who can think, make decisions, work with others, and continue learning long after the course is over.
