Pelham Schoolhouse

The center of everyday life at Pelham.

The Pelham Schoolhouse is where most students begin their training and where much of the daily work of becoming an EMT or Paramedic takes place.

Our approximately 20,000-square-foot facility brings classroom instruction, skills training, study, student housing, and day-to-day school life together in one place.

For students traveling to Pelham from across Indiana or across the country, it becomes more than the building where they attend class.

For a while, this is home base.

Built Around the Student
Pelham programs move quickly, and students spend a lot of time here.
That makes the environment important.

Classrooms and training areas allow instructors to move between lecture, demonstration, practice, testing, and discussion without separating those pieces of the education from one another.

Students can learn a concept, work through it with an instructor, practice it, make mistakes, ask questions, and come back to it again.
The Schoolhouse is where the foundation gets built.

More Than a Classroom Building
The Schoolhouse was designed to support students who may be coming a long way to train with us.
Dorm-style student housing is available on site, placing students close to class, instructors, classmates, and the resources they use every day.

That changes the rhythm of an accelerated program.
Instead of spending hours commuting back and forth, students can remain focused on the course, study with classmates, prepare for the next day, and settle into the routine of training.

For many students, Pelham becomes their community for the time they are here.

Learn It. Practice It. Come Back to It.
EMS education requires repetition.

A concept taught in the morning may become a skill in the afternoon, a patient problem later in the week, and eventually part of a much larger scenario.
The Schoolhouse gives instructors the ability to keep connecting those pieces.

Students are not simply moving from one unrelated class period to another.
They are building toward being able to put the whole call together.

Where the Work Happens
There are easier ways to spend a few weeks or a few months.
Students come to Pelham because they have something they are trying to accomplish.

Some are entering EMS for the first time. Others are advancing to Paramedic, preparing for an examination, returning for continuing education, or training as part of a military or agency program.
The backgrounds may be different.

The expectation is the same:
Come ready to learn. We will give you plenty to work on.

One Pelham. Two Training Environments.

The Schoolhouse and Beechwood serve different purposes, but they are part of the same education.
At the Schoolhouse, students build knowledge, develop skills, practice, question, repeat, and prepare.

At Beechwood, instructors have the space to make the problem larger.

Learn it here.
Then find out what happens when you have to use it.
